Blind Spot “Angles Morts” Coach & Bus Safety Sticker
Blind Spot “Angles Morts” Coach & Bus Safety Sticker
French “Angles Morts” Regulation (Legal Requirement)
These French Angles Morts (Blind Spot) safety stickers are a legal requirement in France as of 1 January 2021 for all buses and coaches over 3.5 tonnes operating in urban areas. The rule is part of the French Highway Code under Article R.313‑32‑1, making correct display of these stickers a mandatory safety measure. Vehicles that fail to comply may receive a Class 4 fine, even if the sticker is present but incorrectly positioned.
The regulation aims to improve safety for cyclists, pedestrians, and other vulnerable road users by clearly marking the blind‑spot zones of large vehicles.
Placement Requirements for Compliance
Correct positioning is essential to meet French legal standards. Stickers must be displayed in three specific locations on buses and coaches:
Rear of the vehicle — Positioned on the right‑hand side, between 0.9 m and 1.5 m from the ground.
Left side of the vehicle — Placed toward the front section, between 0.9 m and 1.5 m from the ground.
Right side of the vehicle — Also placed toward the front section, between 0.9 m and 1.5 m from the ground.
Incorrect placement may still result in a penalty, even if the sticker is displayed. This makes accurate installation essential for operators travelling in France.
